I’m currently obsessed with how to help people create habits.
As I’ve mentioned, the Financial Zen Members who are closest to achieving financial zen are also the
ones who review their spending every week.
The correlation is undeniable.
So my question is how can I help our members (and others) who are not already wired that way to GET
wired that way.
And the answer is with habits.
I’m currently reading Atomic Habits by James Clear.
The chapter I just finished this morning details techniques to form habits.
And the easiest way to form a new habit is to stack it on top of an existing one. He calls it “Habit
Stacking”.
So for instance, I review Nicole’s and my spending every Sunday morning while I watch one of the
Sunday News Shows.
The show goes on and like Pavlov’s dog, I pull up our Financial Zen Portal.
So figure out what habit you already complete each weekend and attach to it “Review spending on
Financial Zen”.
