I took today off-ish

I work 7 days a week.

That’s not a “hustle flex,” it’s just a fact.

After 14 years, I’ve fine tuned my schedule to recharge just enough on Wednesday & Sunday evenings to go hard the rest of the week.

But sometimes I still hit the wall.

I hit the wall yesterday afternoon.

So I woke up today, went through my morning reps – rebalancing, emails, etc. Did our only meeting this morning. And then…

…watched a Rocky marathon while I did some light bookkeeping.

Once upon a time I would have tried to power through.

What would inevitably happen is I’d push the peas around my plate and slide into the next day still exhausted, still burnt out and still running at 50%.

It took a lot of years , but I finally learned to listen to my state and give myself an extra recharge when I need one.

I know by taking my foot off the accelerator today, I’ll be twice as productive tomorrow and Friday (and Saturday and Sunday) as I would have been powering through.

It’s not always possible to watch a Rocky marathon midweek, but if the stars align when you hit the wall, you might be better served taking a day to regroup so you can sprint through the finish line, instead of powering through and limping across it.
