Financial Independence is not an inalienable right

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

As Americans, we’re born with those unalienable rights.

Financial independence is not one of them.

We have the right to PURSUE it, but not the right to HAVE it.

And like the American Revolution, the bigger the goal, the bigger the fight.

Like the Continental Army surviving the winter in Valley Forge, stay vigilant against the need for status, overvaluing instant gratification and ignoring anchoring bias.

Like Washington crossing the Delaware, take the helm of our financial lives by getting our reps in, leveraging all opportunities and not wasting money.

And like John Hancock signing the Declaration of Independence, boldly declare our independence from a lifetime chained to our paychecks.

No, Financial Independence never comes without a fight, sacrifice or bold action.

But the reward is worth the price paid a thousandfold.
