He’s worth over $25M. His book has sold more than 1,000,000 copies. He even has a Netflix show.
And it’s all crap.
(I don’t need any negative karma, so I’ll let you figure out who I’m talking about.)
But my point isn’t that his stuff’s bad. My point is that it motivates me.
If THAT guy can achieve THAT level of success, then I sure as hell can.
THE MOTIVATION FACTOR
A deep-seated part of my belief system is that if anyone’s done anything, then I can do it too with enough focus and effort.
I used to use it as a new financial advisor pup.
I looked around the office and saw a sea of seasoned veterans who were wholly unimpressive. (Sorry, not sorry.)
Yet they HAD successfully built their businesses. (Good for them!)
And I thought “If THEY can do it, then I sure as hell can.”
That belief made me the first one in and last to leave.
It kept me cold-calling on Saturdays.
It is a large part of whatever success I can claim to date.
THEY WALK THEIR DOGS TOO!
To be clear, it’s not an exercise in chopping down other people’s successes to feel bigger about my own.
That would be very small of me.
Rather it’s an exercise to put my own big, hairy, audacious goals within reach.
It’s like that Us Weekly section of candid photos of celebrities doing “normal” things.
Look! They walk their dogs / feed their babies / pump gas too!
Normal people who achieve extraordinary levels of success are still just normal people.
So if they can do it, then YOU sure as hell can too!
(Stay tuned for MY book and MY Netflix show! It won’t be (too) long!)
