Prove Them Wrong

It plays on an endless loop in my brain.

“Prove Them Wrong”

You may know me as happy, positive, optimistic Rick, but make no mistake… I play with a BIG chip on my shoulder.

I hold on to all the “no’s”.

I hold on to all the condescending pats on my head.

I hold on to all the well-intentioned, misguided advice to “team up”, “fold in” or “move on”.

I will make them eat their words. Period.

I don’t know when. I don’t know how. But I live to make them regret it.

Deep down though, I know they never will.

Most of the people on my Prove Them Wrong List don’t even know they’re on there (much less ever think about that moment again.)

But that’s okay. I don’t want their groveling.

What I want  – and what I get – is a bottomless well of ambition.

I’m a pro. I’m a fighter.

And I will prove them wrong.

And I thank them for the fuel.
