Turn off your texts and turn up your budget

I respond to texts once a day, Monday through Friday. (And usually not at all on weekends.)

I have all notifications turned off. No dings. No app bubbles. And I definitely don’t have messages popping up on my home screen.

The only way I know you texted me is if I open the app.

It drives my friends absolutely nuts.

But it’s not them. I turn off ALL notifications on every app except for two categories: work stuff and money stuff.

Here’s why:

  • Texts are distractions that pull my attention away from my goals.
  • Work & Money notifications are prompts that pull my attention toward my goals.

Focus isn’t just about ignoring everything; it is about choosing what enters your mind. If building wealth is a priority, why would you hide the data? You shouldn’t. You should be hyper-aware of it.

If you want to master your focus, you have to curate your inputs.

My challenge to you this week:

Audit your notifications. If an app doesn’t contribute directly to your 1-year or 5-year goals, silence it.

But for your banking and budgeting apps? Turn the volume up.

Turn your phone into a tool that forces you to keep your mind on your money and your money on your mind.
