A Sharper Knife Won’t Make a Better Recipe

A sharper knife won’t make a better recipe.

A sharper portfolio won’t make a better financial plan.

Your portfolio will not get you to your financial goal. It won’t help you earn a bigger paycheck. It won’t help you save more. It won’t help you spend less.

In fact, once you have it right, your portfolio is the least important part of achieving your financial success.

Don’t get me wrong, you need to get it right. The knife has to be sharp enough to cut. The portfolio has to be sharp enough to compound your money.

But once the knife is sharp enough to cut the meat and veggies, focus on the recipe. Once your portfolio is invested correctly, focus on your financial plan.

Obsessing over your knife won’t make a better recipe.

Obsessing over your portfolio won’t achieve your financial goals.
