Dream big, but focus small

“Shoot for the stars, so if you fall you land on a cloud.”

– Kanye West

We are high achievers.

We never settle.

We set Big, Hairy Audacious Goals.

But we’re not without our Achille’s heels.

For instance, when we set those BHAGs, we can get overwhelmed by the gap between the future we’re manifesting (Point B) and the present we’re currently operating from (Point A).

I woke up in that state this morning.

You see we’ve grown at about 40% annually for the last 4 years.

That means we’ve added around 10ish new members per year.

This year is our year to scale, so I set our goal at 40 new members PER MONTH!

Crazy town, right? (But also not impossible.)

Sometimes that big of a goal turns from motivating to overwhelming.

In those moments, I’m always try to mentally eat the entire elephant instead of focusing on the next bite.

And I’ve found the key to deescalate the overwhelm is to envision “just” landing on the clouds.

Yes, our goal is 40 per month. But would I be disappointed “only” adding 5 new members per month? Of course not!

Or what if I only get ONE new person from our marketing & content strategy?

While that wouldn’t make a dent in our business, it WOULD mean that the strategy works.

So if you’re like me and some mornings you wake up freaking out about how you’ll ever bridge the gap from where you are to where you want to be, just remember…

Your are a high achiever.

Even if you fall short of your goal this year, you’ll still achieve more than most will over the next 5 years.

In other words, the clouds ain’t so bad.
