Yesterday I woke up feeling like hell.
Head pounding. Sinuses imploding. Nose wasn’t running, but sprinting.
I was a mess. So I took my 2nd (maybe 3rd?) sick day ever and rescheduled all my meetings.
Hated to do it, but I was barely functional.
Without having to face the world, I tried to be productive in other ways. After a few very distracted hours, I had some soup for lunch and laid down for a bit.
When I woke up, I answered emails and then cut my losses and shut down.
Today I woke up feeling great. The fever definitely broke yesterday and I’ve been productive enough to make up for 3 days, much less just Tuesday.
It’s a reminder that sometimes you just have to take what life gives you.
Don’t fight the sickness or the burnout or the family emergency.
Sometimes easing off the accelerator is the fastest way forward.
