Two weeks ago I discovered Spotify now has 250,000 audiobooks included with a premium subscription.
Podcasts are like reading a magazine. You can only go so deep.
But audiobooks are like, well…. books! You can really get in there and learn some life-changing stuff.
I’ve dug into the audiobook library and these are the audiobooks I’d recommend for anyone to raise their financial IQ.
I’ve read all of these myself and they’re all queued for 2nd and 3rd listens in my library.
THE ALMANACK OF NAVAL RAVIKANT
If you only listen to one, listen to this one. Most personal finance books rhyme – same ideas, different spin.
This one truly offers never-seen-before ideas on money and your money mindset.
A lot of Financial Zen’s money principals incorporate his ideas.
THE MILLIONAIRE NEXT DOOR
If you’re sucked into a lifestyle of keeping up with the Joneses, read this immediately.
To paraphrase my favorite quote from the book, one of the self-made multi-millionaires was asked what kind of beer he likes and he replied “I only drink two types of beer – free and Budweiser.”
THE LITTLE BOOK OF COMMON SENSE INVESTING
This was written by Jack Bogle, the founder of Vanguard. It distills everything you need to know about being a successful investor into a weekend “reader”. (Unfortunately, this one isn’t a freebie, but well worth $15.)
THINK AND GROW RICH
This one’s been required reading for over a century.
The story goes Andrew Carnegie hired Napoleon Hill to study the wealthy and successful and develop a blueprint based on his research.
This book is his blueprint. Some of the writing is clearly early 20th century, but the principles are timeless.
And if you’re hungry for more, I’d also give these a listen:
Winning The Loser’s Game by Charles Ellis
The Science of Getting Rich
The Richest Man in Babylon
As A Man Thinketh
Grit: The Power of Passion & Perseverance
