6 years ago today Financial Zen was born.
I didn’t name her “Valenzi Wealth Management” or something cheesy like that because I wanted to build something bigger than myself.
I wanted to right the wrongs I saw in my industry and do nothing less than change the personal finance industry forever…
(No one’s ever accused me of playing small.)
So let’s see how I’ve done so far:
- Build something for people like me (Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z), not my parents. Check.
- Create a firm NOT focused on “gathering assets,” but on providing what people actually need – financial strategy, coaching and accountability. Check.
- Eliminate managing money as a prerequisite to work with us. Check.
- Make financial planning and coaching accessible to anyone who can benefit from it through a flat monthly membership fee. Check.
- Provide financial education untarnished from the self-serving interests of the financial media and Wall Street. Check.
- Purchase bleeding edge technology to serve people at a high level at scale. Check.
- Create a community of like-minded individuals who understand there’s more to life than earning a paycheck. Check.
That’s just phase 1. I’ve still got lots of work to do.
Phase 2 will get us even closer to getting financial planning and coaching into every household in America and blow up the financial advisory industry as we know it.
But that comes later.
For today, we’ll just celebrate Financial Zen’s 6th birthday and enjoy her accomplishments so far.
