If It’s Important, Then Hire A Professional

On my way to the gym for my lunchtime workout, I passed by two girls feeding a parking meter.

Nothing out of the ordinary, but something felt off. But I ignored my gut and kept walking.

A few paces further and I passed by a Prius with Michigan plates street parked in a white zone.

And it hit me.

I’ve walked past that parking meter 1,000+ times over the last 15 years and I’ve NEVER seen anyone feeding it before.

That’s because white zones are passenger loading only during business hours.

After double-checking the street sign, I went back and saved the out-of-towners from getting towed.

Working with any professional – medical, financial, legal or otherwise – is like a local saving you from getting towed on your vacation.

We’ve walked past that metaphorical parking meter so many times, that we’ve developed an instinct that extends far beyond our conscious skill set..

And that’s why you’ll never find me DIY’ing anything important (like my health, my finances or my legal affairs).

If I’ve never done something before, I’m an out-of-towner and you betcha I’m gonna track down a local to make sure I can actually park there.
