You can tell a lot about somebody from what questions they ask.
Sophie asked incredibly insightful questions about everything from a-day-in-the-life to long-term career advice to what I’d wish I’d known when I was still in school.
By the end of 30 minutes, I told her we didn’t have a formal summer internship program, but if she was interested, we could figure one out. She jumped at the opportunity.
So far this summer, she’s developed financial plans and participated in member’s meetings, and helped me with a TON of special projects that will turbo-charge Financial Zen’s growth.
Whether she chooses financial planning for a future career or not, she’s got an incredibly bright future in front of her.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that someday she’ll circle back to Financial Zen for more than a summer internship, but even if she doesn’t she’ll have a career worth watching.
