Once it’s spent, it’s gone forever

The Road Less Stupid by Keith Cunningham is now in my top 3 books of all time and MIGHT even in the top spot.

This is from his chapter on lessons he learned the hard way:

“Watch your cash VERY closely. Ask yourself, “Do I really need this? Will this help me make more money?” Once the money is spent, it’s gone forever.”

In a business, the capital is there to make you more money. Period.

In your personal finances – which is really just a family business – your capital is there to add value – either to make you more money,  save time or add value in less tangible ways.

Nicole and I will keep this in mind as we review our spending for the week today.

Did this expense add to our bottom line as measured by dollars, minutes or joy?

If so, great. Money well spent.

If not, then can we / should we eliminate it?

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!
