I’ve sent this one out before, but I think it needs a preface.
I try to spend money on things I enjoy for myself, not what others will think (aka the status).
I’ve actually got a fancy office.
But no one sees it except for me – not FZ members, not employees, not networking partners.
It just makes me happy and the money I spend on it, I spend with my eyes wide open.
At the same time, I rock a $40 Timex, shop at DSW almost exclusively, and never get food delivered.
My original post:
A gem from Keith Cunningham’s The Road Less Stupid.
“Fancy offices, hot cars, lots of staff, and high overhead are signs of significance, not success.”
I love applying business wisdom to personal finance.
The equivalent for personal finance could be something like:
“Big houses, hot cars, fancy vacations, and expensive dinners are signs of significance, not success.”
Live a life of success, not significance.
