The Market Pays Us What We’re Worth

The market pays us what we’re worth.

Not as human beings, but as contributors to the economy.

If I want to make more money, then I need to contribute more.

And if I’m going to contribute more, I need to level up my skills.

If I do nothing “extra”, then my skill set will grow at the rate of my experience.

If I do the same thing every day, I’ll be better at that thing with minimal effort.

But if I want to turn that linear career trajectory into a hockey stick, I’ll need to put in more than just time.

I’ll need to learn more.

I’ll need to do things I’ve never done before.

I’ll need to network with people who are further down the road than me.

I’ll need to do a lot of things that will bring discomfort because growth hurts. Just ask any teething baby or adolescent.

So if I want to make more money I need to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
