The Shortest Guide Ever to Employee Benefits Open Enrollment

Employee benefits open enrollment is as complicated as Game of Thrones and as exciting as The Gilded Age.

Not a great combo.

So before you mindlessly select the same benefits as last year and move on with your life, read the shortest guide to employee benefits ever…

GOOD*:
– High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) + Health Savings Account (HSA)
– Vision
– Dental
– Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) (for kids <13y.o.)
– Healthcare FSA (if you don’t use an HSA)
– Limited Expense FSA (only for dental/vision expenses)
– Legal Insurance (for your estate plan)

BAD*:
– Supplemental life insurance
– Critical Illness insurance
– Hospital indemnity insurance
– AD&D insurance

MAYBE*:
– Supplemental long-term disability

* There’s a lot of nuance to each of these and it’s not as cut-and-dry as this list. (It’s just meant to nudge you in the right direction).

So feel free to DM me with questions.

Open enrollment is an open book test and I’m happy to be your book (even if I won’t win an Emmy for Outstanding Costumes).
