594 resumes reviewed over 12 days. Guess how many I remember off the top of my head? ONLY ONE.
He’s only minimally qualified, but he’s 100% getting one of the 25 slots for an initial phone screen.
THIS is what it looks like to give 110% to your job search.
First he applied for the job on LinkedIn…
and then he also sent me an email with his resume and cover letter…
then he sent me a connection request on LinkedIn…
then he DM’d me…
then he started ‘liking” our content…
then he thoughtfully commented on our content…
and THEN (and this is the one that got him a slot) he emailed me with an outline of “What he brings to the table” and “What he’s looking forward to the most about the position.”
(He didn’t say so, but I’m pretty sure he found the Easter Egg I left in one of my posts from last week.)
It reminds me of me trying to break into investment banking with a 2.8 GPA – crashing on-campus interviews, cold-calling any investment banker I could find (pre-LinkedIn) and latching on like a pit bull to any lead I got.
If you really want it, you will find a way.
