I spent half the day Saturday taking pictures.
A picture of an old laptop bag.
And a picture of an old game console.
And a picture of old workout gear.
And…and…and…
It took me about 4 hours.
Then I spent the next 4 hours posting on Mercari.
At the 8-hour point I was only halfway done. Ugh.
I tallied the amount of money I’d make if I spent another 4 hours to finish the job.

That’s when it clicked.
I just valued my time at $15/hr. That’s the minimum wage in California.
What the @%O$* was I thinking!?!?
So I called my mom and asked if she would do the rest for me.
Truth be told this was 4 years ago and that was the moment I started calculating the hourly rate for every hour I spend.
And if the activity was like selling old crap on Mercari and I could hire cheap (or free – Thanks, Mom!) labor, then I’ll outsource it every time.
