What got you from A to B will NOT get you from B to C.
That’s why we often get stuck at Point B. I know I did.
For example, I got here through sheer hustle. My superpower is being the hardest worker in the room.
You cannot outwork me. Don’t even try.
But that superpower is now holding me back. I’ve got aggressive goals that I couldn’t even achieve even if I worked 24/7/265.
So working hard is not going to get me to Point C anytime soon – if ever. I need a new superpower. (But that’s another topic for another day.)
What’s your superpower? How is it holding you back?
Maybe you’re always the smartest person in the room and you want to be “right” more than you want results.
Maybe you’re a do-it-yourselfer and need to control the process, even if the process doesn’t need you to control it.
Maybe you’re a “details” person and your focus on minutiae is holding you back from making actual progress.
Whatever your superpower is, it’s probably holding you back in some way.
Unfortunately, your ego loves it. And the hardest corners to see around are the ones blocked by your ego.
So dive deep and find the characteristic you identify with the most. Then do the hard work of being honest about how it’s holding you back.
Getting to Point C is as much about un-anchoring yourself as it is about building a faster engine.
